Why Leeds first teamer must retain starting spot against Newcastle (not Roofe)

Leeds midfielder Kalvin Phillips must keep his place in the starting XI for the upcoming Championship clash against Newcastle.
The Whites have a pivotal league match away to Newcastle on Friday and a victory would go a long way to sealing their spot in the play-offs.
The Yorkshire giants have a five-point cushion over chasers Fulham and have five games remaining to stay in the top six.
Garry Monk’s side managed to beat Preston 3-0 at Elland Road in their last game and Phillips was one of the star performers.
The 21-year-old has been unable to cement his position in the starting line-up this season and endured spells in and out of the team.

However, he completed 90 minutes in the Preston victory and was a dominant force in the centre of the park.
Phillips played alongside central midfield partner Ronaldo Vieira and the two academy graduates were in complete control throughout against Simon Grayson’s side.
Monk needs to stick with the same midfield combination against Newcastle as they worked brilliantly well together, despite possibly have the likes of Liam Bridcutt and Eunan O’Kane at his disposal.
Phillips played a box-to-box role and managed to assist for Souleymane Doukara’s goal, while Vieira was the combative midfielder sat in front of the defence and breaking up play.
