Wilfried Gnonto backed to quit Leeds United for Premier League giants - pundit

Wilfried Gnonto is likely to quit Leeds United this summer – and is good enough to shine for a Champions League club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Tottenham and Aston Villa defender Alan Hutton said a club like Arsenal or Man City would be able to improve his game.

According to Italian outlet Calciomercato (30 May), the 19-year-old is attracting interest from Serie A clubs as well as City and the Gunners.

The winger’s current contract at Elland Road runs until 2027 after joining in September 2022 but after Leeds’ relegation he could look for an earlier exit.

When asked if Gnonto is one of the names that could quit the Whites for a bigger club this summer, Hutton told Football Insider:I think he has shown in flashes that he is more than capable.

He is very young so there is a lot of room for improvement. If you are putting a guy like that into a team that has got more possession, keep the ball better, then he is going to create opportunities.

Is he sometimes rough round the edges? Of course but I think we were all the exact same when we were younger.

There are certain areas he can get better at and these clubs will think they can improve him. He is definitely one that stands out for me who might look to go elsewhere.

Gnonto made 24 Premier League appearances for the Yorkshire club across the 2022-23 campaign.

In those outings he scored two goals and provided four assists.
