Will Osula: Newcastle star ‘doing everything’ to earn starting XI spot next season

Will Osula wants to stay at Newcastle United this summer and fight for his place in the starting 11 despite widespread interest in his services.

Osula has made his way to the top of Eddie Howe’s attacking pecking order in recent weeks and has repaid the faith shown in his ability.

The Danish striker has scored three goals in his last four appearances, with new reports claiming that numerous clubs in England and Europe are keeping tabs on his availability ahead of the summer.

Newcastle are set to sign a new striker, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, Osula has no plans to leave and wants to be a consistent starter from now on.

Several high-profile stars could leave the club this summer, in a setback to Newcastle’s transfer plans, but those exits mean they are less likely to want to cash in on Osula.

Will Osula wants to be Eddie Howe’s main striker next season

Osula was close to joining Eintracht Frankfurt last summer after a deal was agreed, while the likes of Aston Villa, Everton and Bayer Leverkusen have also been closely linked to his services.

The 22-year-old looks set to keep his place in Newcastle’s starting eleven for their final three games of the campaign, and wants to stay in the team long-term.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “He’s doing everything he can to try and persuade Newcastle that he has a role to play for them in the future after being strongly linked with moves away from St James’ Park in the last two transfer windows.

“He’s got his nod now from Eddie Howe in the side and he’s really repaid that faith. He’s jumped ahead of Woltemade and Wissa in recent weeks, so all credit to Osula.

“He’ll be hoping he can continue this fine form right up until the end of the season. Other clubs are looking at him as well.

“There’s been a lot of foreign interest in Osula in the last two transfer windows, and if he continues his fine goalscoring form, that will bring more interest in him as well.”

Nick Woltemade ready to push for Newcastle exit as striker signing eyed

Woltemade has not lived up to expectations at Newcastle despite a strong start to life at the club following his move from Stuttgart last summer.

The German striker last scored in the FA Cup in mid-February and has not netted in any of his last 16 Premier League appearances.

As exclusively revealed by Football Insider, Woltemade is set to push to leave Newcastle this summer as they plan to sign a new striker.

Yoane Wissa’s future at the club is also uncertain, with at least one of the pair likely to be sold in the coming months.
