Wolves cannot repeat Fabio Silva error as Sasa Kalajdzic interest emerges

Wolves are preparing for life back in the Championship after their relegation from the Premier League.

Multiple players are expected to depart after the dip into the second-tier, which could allow many former outcasts to return to the fold.

One such player is Sasa Kalajdzic, who has enjoyed a highly memorable campaign back in his homeland at LASK, where he won a shock domestic double

His form has now attracted the interest of Schalke, according to oe24 on 27 May, who are preparing for life back in the Bundesliga.

Now, despite his newfound form, Wolves cannot repeat the failures of Fabio Silva and must now sell the 28-year-old for good.

Schalke interest is golden opportunity to sell Sasa Kalajdzic

There is no question that Kalajdzic has proven in his loan spell that he is a top player and could make an impact in the Championship next season.

The striker picked up 11 goal contributions in his final nine matches, including two assists in the Austrian Cup final.

However, his injury record speaks for itself, and it is simply too risky not to sell the star.

Wolves previously fell for this trap with Silva after his successful loan spells at Anderlecht and PSV.

This saw the Old Gold club return him to the first team the following season, and even gave him the number nine shirt, before he flopped once again, costing the club millions in a potential sale.

This can simply not happen again, and Wolves must cash in on Kalajdzic while his stock is high and there is clear interest from Schalke.

Who else could depart Wolves this summer?

Football Insider has exclusively revealed that Santiago Bueno is a target for Leeds United this summer.

The centre-back was one of the only solid players for Wolves this campaign as they went down without a fight.

Leeds’ interest in Bueno comes as they are also looking to sign Ladislav Krejci, in what could be a double summer swoop for the club this summer transfer window.

However, it remains to be seen if they are able to seal the deal in the coming months, with Wolves likely to be keen on keeping the duo ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.
