Wolves sacked Vitor Pereira after a winless start to the Premier League season as they scramble to find his successor.

It was announced on 2 November that Wolves parted ways with Pereira following a dismal start to the 2025-26 campaign, leaving the side rock bottom of the table.

The lack of organisation at the club, particularly after recently handing the Portuguese a new contract has put the Fosun ownership group under pressure at Wolves, according to Everton’s former chief Keith Wyness.

Wolves supporters reject the notion of O'Neil's comeback to the club

Wolves are open to the return of O'Neil who was succeeded by Pereira in December 2024.

The ex-Bournemouth boss was replaced by the Portuguese after a similar disastrous start to the league campaign as well as a bizarre contract extension at the start of the 2024-25 season.

It is fair to say that the idea of the Englishman returning to Molineux has left the Wanderers faithful less than inspired, with one saying: "The PR of a Gary O’Neil appointment is disastrous." with another adding: "To re-employ O'Neil would be madness in my view but nothing would surprise you."

During his brief spell in the Midlands the first time round, the 42-year-old won just 20 of his 63 games in charge, not exactly filling the Old and Gold army with much hope.

One fan looked ahead to the possible state of affairs if O'Neil received the job once again, stating: "Can see it now. November 2026. Wolves sitting 23rd having just been beaten at home to Stockport, replace Gary O'Neil with Vitor Pereira." with another saying: "How the Wolves hierarchy think that employing a manager that they sacked because he weren’t good enough in this same position last year is beyond me!"
