Wolves are eyeing up a summer swoop for Sporting CP goalkeeper Rui Patricio, according to a report.
Sky Sports Italia claims that Wolves are not scared by the £30.6million valuation of the 30-year-old Portugal international and they are ready to make a significant investment in strengthening their options between the sticks.
It is understood that the 6ft 2in colossus is also wanted by Napoli, but the West Midlands club remain adamant that they could beat the Italian giants to his signature.
Football Insider verdict
While Patricio is not on Jorge Mendes’ list of illustrious clients, it does not seems that Wolves will be solely signing players from Portugal who are linked to the super-agent. Patricio is one of Europe’s top goalkeepers and it is about time that he makes a move to a major European league. With Wolves ready to play in the Premier League, there’s every chance that Patricio would look to leave Lisbon for the first time in his career. The goalkeeper is a one-man club so far, having made 458 total appearances for Sporting CP since his debut in 2006. He has been ever-present this season by appearing 54 times and keeping 23 clean sheets in all competitions, so there’s no wonder why there’s such a massive price-tag involved. Wolves are prepared to spend it though in what is going to be a massive summer for the club and it’s fans, who are itching to see world class talent arrive at Molineux
In other Wolves news, Wanderers are likely to sign this £95,000-a-week Tottenham player in the summer.
