Wolves have decided to sack technical director Scott Sellars, sources have told Football Insider.

The 56-year-old has been told he is being dismissed from the key recruitment post and is now locked in negotiations with club chiefs over the terms of his pay-off.

It is believed that Sellars has been asked if he would want to stay on at Wolves in an alternative role after spending more than eight years at the club in various roles.

But the former Molineux academy chief rejected that possibility and is now severing all ties with the club.

It comes at a time of great change at Wolves, who have just appointed Julen Lopetegui as the new manager following a lengthy search.

Sellars has come under scrutiny from supporters following a difficult start to the season that has left the club bottom of the Premier League going into the World Cup break.

Home fans demanded the sacking of Sellars last month during the calamitous 4-0 defeat to Leicester City.

That came amid the backdrop of Wolves having failed to land top managerial targets Michael Beale and Lopetegui at the first attempt.

Lopetegui subsequently had a change of heart and was appointed the new manager last week.

The World Cup break will provide the new manager with the chance to make his mark on the team.

They will travel to Marbella for three friendly matches before playing Gillingham in the League Cup on 20 December, and then resume their relegation battle on 26 December.
