Wolves set to accept £50m Ruben Neves bid after Liverpool make move - sources
Liverpool have asked to be kept informed about developments in the race to sign Wolves star Ruben Neves, sources have told Football Insider.
The midfielder, 26, has made up his mind to quit the Molineux club this summer and has already bid farewell to fans during an emotional lap of honour.
Liverpool continue to have a strong interest in Neves after a January enquiry was knocked back by Wolves as they didn’t want to sell mid-season.
However, the Midlands club are likely to cash in on their captain in the coming window if their £50million asking price is met.
Spanish reports have suggested that Neves already has a verbal agreement with Barcelona – but Liverpool will nonetheless continue to keep tabs on his situation.
Neves is represented by Gestifute, the agency of influential super agent Jorge Mendes – who also represents current Liverpool stars Darwin Nunez, Diogo Jota and Fabinho.
He has just over 12 months left to run on his Wolves contract – meaning they run the risk of letting him leave the club for free if a deal is not agreed this summer.
The club captain has made 40 appearances across all competitions in the 2022-23 campaign, notching six goals and one assist.
He has racked up 252 total appearances for Wolves since joining them in the Championship back in 2017, scoring 30 goals and assisting 13.
Liverpool will play Europa League football in the 2023-24 campaign after they were beaten to a top-four finish by Man United and Newcastle.
Jurgen Klopp’s side are plotting a radical overhaul of their midfield this summer with the exits of James Milner, Naby Keita and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain already confirmed.
