Wolverhampton Wanderers, Bournemouth and Sunderland are keeping tabs on Queens Park Rangers striker Rumarn Burrell, sources have told Football Insider.

Burrell, 25, has caught the eye of clubs higher up the pyramid following his impressive performances for QPR this season after his arrival from Burton Albion last summer.

The Jamaica international has scored 10 goals and provided three assists in just 22 starts in the Championship this season.

Bournemouth and Sunderland are both keen to add to their attacking options for next season, while Wolves are aiming to rebuild and strengthen following their relegation from the Premier League.

All three clubs are admirers of Burrell, who is now back to full fitness after recovering from a hamstring injury that kept him out for almost three months.

Premier League clubs chase Rumarn Burrell

Football Insider exclusively revealed in February that Ipswich Town wanted to sign Richard Kone on transfer deadline day, but the move for the QPR striker did not materialise.

The Ivorian forward also arrived last summer following an impressive season in League One, and had formed a strong partnership with Burrell in the first half of the season.

QPR expect to face interest for both players in the summer, but will hope to keep hold of them ahead of a push towards promotion next season.

Burrell’s career began at Grimsby Town and later Middlesbrough, but he first caught the eye in the third tier of Scottish football.

Playing for Cove Rangers, the striker scored 21 goals and provided six assists in the 2023-24 season, including a staggering run of eight games, in which he provided 17 direct goal contributions.

Subsequent moves to Burton and QPR have seen Burrell’s goal-scoring pedigree grow, with the interest of Premier League clubs testament to his reliability.

The 25-year-old is under contract until 2030 and will be expected to attract a sizable fee, having joined QPR in a deal worth around £1million.

Which club is best placed to sign Burrell?

Brian Brobbey has emerged as Sunderland’s first-choice striker in recent months, despite having started the season behind Wilson Isidor.

The Frenchman could now leave the Black Cats in the summer, leaving the room for a new arrival up front.

Bournemouth have been struck by the emergence of Eli Junior Kroupi, who has netted 11 goals in his debut Premier League season.

The 19-year-old is under contract until 2030, and is already attracting huge interest from elsewhere.

Wolves appear best placed to sign Burrell amid their relegation to the Championship, however. Jorgen Strand Larsen was sold in January, and Tolu Arokodare could be set to follow him after reports of dressing room trouble emerged.

Rob Edwards will be keen to sign a recognised Championship goal-scorer, and Burrell could be just the man.
