Bruno Guimaraes sends message to Kieran Tripper as he completes Wolves move
Kieran Trippier has spoken out for the first time since he signed for Wolves.
The 35-year-old has left Newcastle at the expiry of his contract and agreed a two-year deal to sign for Wolves in the Championship.
A reliable right-back, Trippier's game time had been reduced at St James' Park due to the emergence of Tino Livramento.
Trippier joined Newcastle in January 2022, as one of the first big signings under Eddie Howe and the Saudi ownership, helping the club avoid relegation from the Premier League that season.
Newcastle have continued to build since that point, and Trippier started their 2-1 Carabao Cup final victory over Liverpool in 2025, which ended the club's 70-year wait for a domestic trophy.
Trippier faces a new challenge at Wolves, as Rob Edwards looks to rebuild his squad for the Championship following a disastrous season in the Premier League.
Kieran Trippier confirms Wolves arrival
After Wolves announced that Matt Doherty has left the club, Trippier will likely replace the 34-year-old at right-back.
Posting on his Instagram page, Trippier shared a picture signing his new contract at Wolves.
Trippier captioned the post: "I am delighted to join Wolves, a new chapter and one I’m ready for.
" I’m looking forward to working with the team, and giving my all on the pitch. I can’t wait to meet the fans and play at Molineux."
Plenty of Trippier's former Newcastle teammates showed their support, with captain Bruno Guimaraes commenting, "good luck brother."
Nick Woltemade said, "good luck," whilst Joe Willock and Livramento both left love heart emojis.
Who could replace Kieran Trippier at Newcastle?
Sources told Football Insider that Newcastle want to sign a right-back as part of their summer transfer plans.
Howe is also concerned about losing Livramento amid interest from Manchester City and Arsenal, and the 23-year-old has yet to sign a new long-term deal on Tyneside.
The Magpies had been linked with a move for Atalanta right-back Marco Palestra, but that move is now reportedly off.
It remains unclear who Howe will target next, with Livramento currently the only senior right-back at the club.
