Wolves have posted an emotional farewell to Matt Doherty after they confirmed he would be leaving the club.

Doherty is one of 10 players that the club have announced will be leaving after they suffered Premier League relegation.

The 34-year-old, in his second spell at Wolves, could not help the club avoid finishing bottom of the Premier League table with just three wins all season.

Doherty has made nearly 400 appearances for the Old Gold, following a 10-year spell at Molineux between 2010 and 2020, before he joined Tottenham.

The Ireland international rejoined Wolves in 2023, but he will now move on as Rob Edwards rebuilds his squad for the Championship.

Wolves stars respond as Matt Doherty message shared

Wolves paid tribute to Doherty's service to the club with a highlights reel on Instagram of his best moments on and off the pitch.

The post was captioned: "Thirteen years of huge moments and cherished memories. Forever a Wolves legend."

Conor Coady called Doherty "one of the best to wear the shirt," whilst Ruben Neves commented, "what a guy."

Nelson Semedo replied, "what a lad," whilst Romain Saiss said, "big legend doc."

Wolves forward Hwang Hee-chan posted an orange love heart and clapping hands emoji, as Doherty received many messages of support from past and current teammates.

What are Wolves' transfer plans this summer?

With Doherty having departed, Wolves have already agreed a deal to sign right-back Kieran Trippier as his replacement.

However, Wolves have no plans to allow forward Mateus Mane to leave, with the 18-year-old having provided a bright spark in a bleak season.

Sources have told Football Insider that Edwards wants to build his team around Mane next season, and does not want the club to cash in on the forward.

Mane's breakthrough season has attracted interest from the likes of Manchester United and Liverpool, but Wolves will not allow him to leave unless a big offer comes in.
