Wolverhampton Wanderers have agreed a deal to sign Newcastle United striker Sean Neave on loan, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old is currently travelling to Wolverhampton, having been given permission by his club to undergo a medical and put the finishing touches on his move.

Newcastle have accepted a loan offer for the teenager, who has already made his Premier League debut for the club.

Neave is very highly regarded at St James' Park, and will be allowed to leave the club in pursuit of regular first-team football to continue his positive development.

The striker has made just two senior appearances for the Magpies, having come off the bench in last season's Premier League defeat to Fulham and Champions League win against Qarabag.

However, Wolves scouts have been impressed by what they have seen from him in Newcastle's academy sides, and believe he is ready to play senior football in the Championship.

Neave signed his frist professional contract with the Magpies in 2024, and signed an extension last year, with the club holding out high hopes for his long-term role at the club.

Why are Wolves taking Sean Neave on loan?

Football Insider reported last year that Newcastle were happy to have tied Neave down to a long-term contract extension, given their plans for his ongoing development.

However, given the strikers currently available to Matthias Jaissle, there was a slim chance he would be able to pick up regular minutes this season.

As a result, a loan move to the Championship has been seen as an ideal opportunity for the striker, while Wolves have been working hard to get a deal over the line.

Cesar Peixoto has been determined to strenghten up front all summer, having completed the early signing of Raul Jimenez, and Neave will now compliment him.

The teenager scored 16 goals and provided two assists in 26 appearances for the academy side last season, impressing watching scouts with his displays.

Work is ongoing behind the scenes in an attempt to get the deal over the line before tonight's 11pm deadline, with the striker en route to undergo medical tests and formalities.

The Bundesliga outfit could sanction the striker's departure should the right offer arrive, with Newcastle having been long-term admirers of his abilities.

However, at this late stage in the window, it would take a huge move for Newcastle to pull off his signing before the 11pm deadline.
