Bertrand Traore’s 0.31 and 0.26 stats show why he can spearhead Wolves to promotion
Wolverhampton Wanderers are reportedly in talks to sign Bertrand Traore on a free transfer just days after the summer window closed.
The Old Gold club are said to be in talks to sign the 30-year-old winger to help boost the club’s options out wide.
Someone would have to depart if Traore is to sign due to Wolves having a full 25-man squad at present, with Santiago Bueno seen as the most likely sale.
Traore became a free agent this summer after he was released by Sunderland at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
The winger struggled in his only season at the Stadium of Light, with injuries keeping him out of the team for much of the second half of the campaign.
However, when examining his performances at Ajax in the 2024-25 season, everything indicates that he could be a massive hit at Molineux.
How good is Bertrand Traore?
There was plenty of frustration around Molineux after the transfer window closed.
This was mainly due to the fact that Wolves were unable to sign a winger, something that was viewed as a priority among much of the fanbase.
However, despite the transfer window now being closed, Inside Wolves has reported that the club is exploring a deal for Traore to resolve this issue.
This could prove to be an excellent signing for the Old Gold club, as when the winger can stay fit, he is a menace in attack.
In his final campaign at Ajax, Traore produced many excellent stats.
According to Fotmob on 5 September, he averaged 0.31 goals, a 0.43 xG, 3.34 shots, 1.10 shots on target, 0.26 assists, a 0.22 xA, 1.62 chances created and 0.37 big chances created per 90 minutes in the Eredivisie.
Therefore, if the attacker can replicate these stats in the Championship, it could prove to be the key factor for Wolves gaining promotion to the Premier League this season.
Do Wolves have enough to win promotion back to the Premier League?
Despite looking to reinforce their frontline, Wolves’ issues at the moment stem from the back.
The club have conceded eight goals in four Championship matches to date, and have one of the worst defences in the division.
As a result, they are yet to keep a clean sheet, and could have easily let more goals into their net.
However, with Ladislav Krejci now expected to return to the pitch after failing to find a new club in the summer, this could end the problem for Wolves in defence.
