Championship fans are all saying same thing as Wolves confirm Raul Jimenez return
Fans from across the Championship believe that Wolverhampton Wanderers will get promoted after Raul Jimenez made a sensational return to Molineux.
The 35-year-old striker rejoined the Old Gold club on Tuesday and signed a two-year contract, with the option of an addtional 12 months after he was released by Fulham on Monday.
This move follows confirmation of Kieran Trippier’s move to Wolves on Monday after the former England international was also released by Newcastle United at the end of the 2025-26 campaign.
Now, many fans on Championship sides believe that they simply cannot compete with Wolves’ business, insisting that they are now certainties to get promoted.
Rob Edwards’ squad was already expected to be in and around the promotion places after their relegation from the Premier League.
Wolves ended the 2025-26 campaign at the bottom of the English top-flight, as they amassed just 20 points, and were effectively relegated for most of the season.
Championship fans believe they cannot compete with Wolves
The Mexican international’s addition to the squad is a significant coup, after he netted nine Premier League goals this season and picked up three assists.
Jimenez had previously enjoyed a highly successful spell at Wolves between 2018 and 2023, where he scored 57 goals in all competitions and helped led them to Europe.
With clubs like Southampton, Middlesbrough and West Ham United also aiming to get promoted in the upcoming campaign, many of these fans now fear that Wolves may already be guaranteed an instant Premier League return after their recent business.
Will Wolves still lose some of their best players?
Football Insider exclusively revealed that Leeds United are planning a double swoop for Santiago Bueno and Ladislav Krejci this summer.
The former was voted as Wolves’ Player of the Year for the 2025-26 campaign, proving to be one of their only consistent stars in what was a dismal season.
Krejci also put in many solid displays, with his loan move recently becoming permanent at Molineux.
Leeds are not the only side interested in Bueno, but he is seen as a key target as they look to bolster their defensive options, having impressed despite Wolves' struggles.
If Wolves were to lose the duo, it would no doubt harm their promotion chances for the upcoming campaign.
Therefore, it is far from certain that the Old Gold club will be guaranteed to finish inside the top two next season as it stands.
