Wolverhampton Wanderers supporters have demanded that Fer Lopez stays at Molineux this summer instead of loaning him out to Celta Vigo.

The 22-year-old was one of the Old Gold side’s biggest signings of the 2025 summer transfer window, but he struggled in the Premier League.

As a result, the £19million signing was sent back to Celta Vigo on loan in the winter window to see out the remainder of the 2025-26 campaign.

Now, after returning to Molineux, the La Liga club are keen to have him back, but reports have indicated that they cannot afford to sign him permanently.

Reading this, Wolves fans have pleaded to their club to keep the Spain Under-21 international, rather than send him back on loan.

Lopez made 12 appearances in all competitions for the West Midlands side last season and failed to score a single goal.

Celta Vigo can only secure loan deal for Fer Lopez

Since Lopez’s sale last summer, Celta Vigo has certainly come out as the winner in the deal.

After pocketing £19m, the winger returned to Balaidos Stadium and was a huge success.

His form helped guide the club to a sixth-place finish in La Liga, as he started the majority of matches upon his return.

Now, Marca on 2 July has reported that Celta Vigo want Lopez on loan again ahead of the 2026-27 campaign.

This news has infuriated Wolves fans, who believe that such a deal would only help the Spanish club.

As a result, many have taken to X to demand that the club either keep Lopez, or they sell him for a fair price.

Can Lopez be a hit in the Championship?

If Wolves choose to keep Lopez, there is plenty to suggest that he will be a hit.

In La Liga last season, he produced many eye-catching stats.

According to Fotmob on 3 July, he averaged, 0.08 goals, 0.12 xG, 0.08 assists, 0.11 xA, 0.92 chances created, 1.69 successful dribbles and 5.60 recoveries per game.

Therefore, if these stats can be replicated, he will no doubt be a massive asset to Wolves in the Championship as they aim to win promotion.

However, it remains to be seen what Wolves choose to do with Lopez over the coming months.
