Tottenham fans have taken to Twitter to express their excitement after a reliable journalist claimed the club are in advanced talks to sign Fulham sensation Ryan Sessegnon.

Marc Benamram, a freelance Spurs correspondent, claimed on his personal Twitter account on Tuesday afternoon that Spurs are working on a deal for the 17-year-old wide player.

Benamram explained that Tottenham have been in negotiations with the Championship high flyers about signing Sessegnon since January in a bid to fend off interest from rival clubs and are “confident” of nailing him to a contract.

Sessegnon has been in sensational form for Fulham this season, scoring 14 goals in 42 appearances, including 10 in the last 16 matches.

He is in contention to win the Championship player of the year 12 months after marking a brilliant debut campaign by making the league’s official team of the season.

Fulham are flying high in the English second tier and will move to within five points of the second automatic promotion spot if they beat Leeds United at Craven Cottage on Tuesday night.

Spurs fans are convinced by the immense potential of the flank man, with one claiming he “will surpass Gareth Bale” and another hailing the wonderkid as a “stunning” footballer.
