Multiple Leeds United players have left Gabby Agbonlahor drooling this season with their “phenomenal” energy.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley, the former England forward insisted the team’s thrilling approach deserves immense credit.
Leeds responded to consecutive defeats at the hands of Crystal Palace and Leicester City with an outstanding performance in today’s 0-0 Premier League draw against Arsenal at Elland Road.
Marcelo Bielsa’s side began the match at 15th in the Premier League table after making a big impression with neutrals despite losing four of their opening eight matches.
They continued that with a dominant performance today in which they had 24 goal attempts and hit the woodwork three times.
Asked to name which player has caught his eye at Leeds United this season, Agbonlahor told Football Insider:
“Listen, that the whole team has caught my eye. I do like the way they play, it’s refreshing to see a team come to the Premier League and not park the bus against teams.
“It’s nice they’ve come up and they’ve attacked teams. I mean when you’re watching the Liverpool game and the Man City game it was like: ‘Wow, these are flying forward.’
“Even against Aston Villa, they were 3-0 up and I’m seeing like seven, eight players flying forward into the Villa box and I’m just like: ‘Wow, the phenomenal energy they’ve got, and just the way they played is refreshing,’
“When in previous years teams that have come up have just parked the bus and just look to win a game 1-0.
“Leeds they’re not frightened to lose like they did against Leicester – 4-1 – as on another occasion they might have won 4-1 had the chances they had went in, so it’s refreshing to see them and I think they’ll be fine this season.”
