Alan Hutton has hailed Aston Villa rookie Callum O’Hare as a huge talent destined for big things at the club.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the former Villa defender explained how the playmaker blew him and other senior players at the club away after being fast-tracked into first team training in his teens.

O’Hare, 21, has made only nine appearances for the Midlands giants but he’s gone on loan this season to League One high flyers Coventry City.

Hutton, who quit Villa this summer after eight years, namechecked O’Hare when asked about young players at the club with big futures.

“I like Callum O’Hare,” Hutton told Football Insider. “He was introduced into the squad a few seasons ago. We’ve seen glimpses, he’s a different player, probably more like your number 10 – sees a pass other people don’t see and I think that was the thing that stood out for me.

“For someone so young to have ability like that, it was really outstanding. Again, he’s not had as much game time as he would probably have liked but I think that’s the case of you need to go out and play.

“He’s gone out on loan to Coventry and I think he is going to get the time he needs there. Hopefully he’s a player that will develop and he’ll get better and come back as a better player.”

O’Hare has played seven times for Coventry this season, including starts in each of their last two matches.

He has scored twice already for his temporary employers, who are fourth in League One.

In other Aston Villa news, it can be REVEALED that the club have set their sights on a £20million-plus January signing.
