'Wow' - Exclusive: Erling Haaland may sign for Liverpool this summer - Kevin Phillips

Kevin Phillips has claimed he can see Liverpool making the sensational signing of Erling Haaland this summer.

The former Sunderland and Aston Villa player, speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Dylan Childs, claimed he could see the 19-year-old spearheading Jurgen Klopp’s attack.

Haaland‘s meteoric rise has already earned him a move to Borussia Dortmund in January. The German giants meeting the £17.1million release clause required to sign the player from Red Bull Salzburg.

Fellow Bundesliga forward Timo Werner has been continually linked with a summer move to Anfield but Phillips believes the Norwegian would be the perfect fit.

“Mane and Salah are not out and out strikers,” the former England international told Football Insider.

“It might be an area Klopp looks at in the summer. It is a slight issue. They lack an out and out goalscorer.

“Haaland – imagine him playing for Liverpool as their number nine. Mane and Salah playing off of him and Firmino just behind. Wow. Imagine that front four.

“I could see him there. I think his movement – he can travel with the ball and hold it up.

“If you sign a player like that you make it work. It would be an awesome front four.”

The teenager made a quite remarkable start in Germany, scoring 8 goals in his first four games – three of which he started on the bench.

In all competitions this campaign, Haaland has scored 40 goals in 32 appearances including 10 in just seven Champions League games.

In other Liverpool news, Danny Mills has told Football Insider “fantastic” player will be sorely missed for Atletico Madrid clash.
