'Wow, what a signing that'd be' - Exclusive: PL ace pushing for Spurs move as Bent dazzled

Darren Bent has urged Tottenham to go “all out” to sign Bournemouth winger Ryan Fraser on a free transfer this summer.

The former Spurs and England hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, insists the Cherries’ wide man would be a “great” addition to the squad.

As revealed by Football Insider, the 26-year-old has told friends he would be keen on joining Tottenham this summer and that the Lilywhites are likely to be interested in doing a deal.

The Scotland international is out of contract with the Cherries at the end of the season, leaving him free to move for nothing as and when the summer window opens.

Bent insists that Fraser would be a brilliant signing for Spurs but admits the Lilywhites need more than just one body through the door this summer.

Bent told Football Insider: “It’s another body in the door but where does he fit in? You look at their front three and he could potentially fit in on the right.

“You’ve got Heung-min Son on the left, Harry Kane through the middle and maybe Fraser on the right, battling with Lucas Moura. It would be a great signing and if you can get him on a free as well, wow, what a signing that would be.

“If I’m Spurs I’m going all out to get that type of player but don’t make that your be all and end all. We saw Manchester United do that with Daniel James and yeah, he did very, very well but I’m sure United weren’t expecting him to do as well as he did.

“If Spurs can get him in on a free, that’s a very, very good start.”

Fraser has been a mainstay for Bournemouth this season, missing just one game across all competitions for Eddie Howe.

However, he has struggled to replicate his form from the 2018/19 season, where he scored eight goals and contributed 15 assists, with just one strike and four set ups under his belt this term.

In other Tottenham news, Bent admits he was gutted by an official announcement from Spurs this week.
