Wrexham have been fined by the FA for "failing to control players" during their Carabao Cup loss to Sheffield United in August.

The League One club's Hollywood owners Ryan Reynolds and Rob McElhenney will have to reach into their pockets to the tune of £2500 following Jack Marriot's, 29, tussle with Sheffield United's Sydie Peck, 19.

Tensions boiled over in Wrexham's 4-2 defeat following a late consolation goal by left-back Sebastian Revan.

Peck, who earned Man of the Match honors for his outstanding performance, blocked Marriott from getting the ball out of the Blades' net, causing frustration due to the delay.

Wrexham receive FA fine for trouble in Sheffield United game

Following the incident, the FA launched an investigation into both clubs' conduct during the match, and have announced they are fining Sheffield United £8,500 and Wrexham £2,500 for their respective roles in the altercation.

Despite their Carabao Cup setback, Wrexham have made a strong start to their League One campaign with three wins in their first four matches, as they seek yet another promotion.

Wrexham have secured two consecutive promotions since the high-profile takeover that transformed the club from obscurity to football media darlings.

Phil Parkinson's side are yet to concede a goal in League One so far this season, drawing 0-0 with ex-Premier League side Bolton and beating Reading and Peterborough 3-0 and 2-0 respectively.

They currently sit in second and face 20th-placed Shrewsbury Town at The Racecourse Ground on September 7th.
