'Writing's on the wall' - Exclusive: Bent reacts to Mourinho's Tottenham player reveal
Darren Bent claims the “writing’s on the wall” for Tottenham striker Troy Parrott after struggling for game time under Jose Mourinho.
The former Spurs and England hitman, speaking exclusively to Football Insider assistant editor Russell Edge, says that it speaks volumes the 18-year-old is barely featuring in the absence of Harry Kane and Heung-min Son.
Speaking ahead of the FA Cup clash against Norwich on Wednesday, Mourinho revealed that the promising starlet would start on the bench after calling him “the privileged one”.
The Portuguese boss also confirmed that he had held discussions with the striker over his attitude at Spurs, insisting he needs to keep his feet on the ground.
With Mourinho reluctant to use the teenage talent despite his lack of centre-forward options, Bent believes the youngster will be considering where he stands in north London.
Bent told Football Insider: “He’s probably thinking: ‘I’ll get a little five minutes here, five minutes there, brilliant, but I’m still nowhere near it – and nowhere near it with two of their best forwards out injured.’

“‘When am I ever going to feature for this club because Harry Kane’s still young enough and so is Son. When am I ever going to develop at this football club?’
“He’s probably looking to himself like: ‘Whatever minutes I can get, brilliant,” but with Harry Kane and Son out injured and you’re still getting five minutes, the writing’s on the wall.”
Parrott came off the bench to play three minutes against Wolves on Sunday, the Lilywhites losing 3-2 to Nuno Espirito Santo’s men.
He has a total of three senior appearances under his belt at Spurs, as well as one international cap for the Republic of Ireland.
In other Tottenham news, Michael Brown claims one senior star is definitely going to leave this summer.
