Xhaka 'deal to be done' after Sky Italy's Arsenal update - Campbell
Arsenal need to do a deal with AS Roma for Granit Xhaka with a number of big-money signings expected through the door this summer.
That is the view of former Gunners and Everton striker Kevin Campbell, speaking exclusively to Football Insider about the ongoing discussions between the two clubs regarding the transfer of the 28-year-old.
Jose Mourinho’s Roma have been in pursuit of Xhaka all summer but have struggled to agree on a fee with Arsenal.
However, according to Sky Italy, as quoted by the Daily Mail (22nd July), the two clubs are on the brink of reaching an agreement over a £17million deal.
The centre-midfielder has two years remaining on his contract at the Emirates.
When asked by Football Insider for his assessment of the latest, Campbell said:

“A number of signings are coming through the door now so getting players off the books is going to be important.
“Xhaka had a great Euros and a good second half of the season with Arsenal. But it just goes to show that we need more in there because we didn’t even qualify for Europe last season.
“We need a more dynamic player in the middle of the park than Xhaka. Somebody who is more of a threat from the midfield. He doesn’t have enough legs for me.
“There is a deal to be done that benefits all parties.”
Mikel Arteta’s side have spent close to £25million on the signings of Albert Lokonga and Nuno Tavares.
The club is also expected to announce the £50million arrival of Ben White later this week, while there is strong interest in a £25million move for Sheffield United keeper Aaron Ramsdale.
