Paul Robinson ripped into West Ham attacker Albian Ajeti as the forward was lucky not to be sent off in the 1-1 draw with Everton.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider correspondent Laura O’Leary, the ex-England goalkeeper pointed out Ajeti hasn’t played much this year, so the last thing he needed to do is put himself at risk of getting sent-off.
The 22-year-old forward appeared to push his head towards the face of Everton defender Mason Holgate during an off-the-ball incident, which led to the incident being checked by VAR.
While Ajeti didn’t see red for the incident, Robinson scolded the player for doing something ‘very silly’ which could have seen him hit the showers early.
When asked about Ajeti pushing his head in Holgate’s direction on Saturday, Robinson told Football Insider: “You can’t do that! Especially with VAR, you can’t do anything.
“So he was very very lucky not to get sent off, and especially as he has played very few minutes this year, and very little football so you don’t want to be coming on and getting sent off.
“So it was a very silly move on his behalf, to run the risk of being sent off.”
The attacker arrived at the London Stadium in the summer after joining the Hammers from Swiss side FC Basel.
However, Ajeti has only played eight times in the Premier League so far with his total playing time only equalling 126 minutes.
In other West Ham news, agent whispers suggest the club are well placed to sign midfielder proven in the Premier League.
