Youri Tielemans: Aston Villa could now accept ‘huge’ offer amid financial concern

Youri Tielemans could be set to leave Aston Villa at the end of the season with a number of top European clubs keeping a close eye on his situation.

The 29-year-old remains an important part of Unai Emery’s squad, but a “huge” offer could be enough to lure him away from Villa Park when the window opens.

Should he impress at the World Cup with Belgium, there is a growing feeling that his long-term admirers could now step up their interest.

Former Aston Villa scout Mick Brown told Football Insider that Emery will be reluctant to lose Tielemans but could be forced by the club’s financial situation.

The Villans are likely to be forced to sell before they can buy this summer amid ongoing PSR issues, and Tielemans’ exit could fund a busy window for Aston Villa.

Could Aston Villa accept offers for Youri Tielemans?

Football Insider revealed in March that Aston Villa have no plans to sell Tielemans and would reject any offers amid interest from Saudi Pro League clubs.

However, as a result of their ongoing financial concerns, there is now a feeling that he could be sold for the right price given the impact it would have on their window.

Villa plan to strengthen their squad as they prepare to compete in the Champions League next season, but sacrefices may need to be made before they can invest.

“There’s been lots of talk that Aston Villa could lose players,” Brown told Football Insider.

“A lot will depend on their finances, they haven’t been able to spend in their last couple of windows unless they sell players first.

“I expect that still to be the case, and so it might mean they’re forced to sell one of their big players for a huge fee, and that can go towards investing in the squad.

“Tielemans is one who stands out in that regard because he has been so impressive.

“There are a number of European clubs looking at him because he’s very highly regarded and has an excellent reputation, so if he’s available then there will be suitors.

“If he goes to the World Cup and has a strong tournament, that’s going to invite even more interest, and it could be difficult for Villa to keep him.

“In an ideal world, of course the manager would like to keep his best players, but it might not be possible with the situation Villa find themselves in.”

How does Tielemans feel about leaving Aston Villa?

Saudi Pro League clubs are among those showing the most interest in the Aston Villa star, and there is a feeling the money on offer could tempt him away.

However, Football Insider revealed in March that Tielemans could reject a move away from Villa as he has no intention of moving to Saudi Arabia in the near future.

That is not to say he couldn’t be tempted away by one of the European powerhouses who are believed to be long-term admirers, but he will have to be convinced.

The midfielder believes he has plenty to offer in European football, with participation in next season’s Champions League a huge boost for Villa.

However, should Villa deem any offer acceptable, clubs are prepared to attempt to convince the Belgium international into making a move away.
