'You've got to sell'- Exclusive: Bent reacts to Spurs transfer reveal by reliable Spanish source

Darren Bent has claimed that Tottenham Hotspur must sell Harry Kane in the next year or two if they are to get “top dollar” for him.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Spurs man admitted that he wouldn’t be surprised to the see the 26-year-old leave North London if his former club don’t start to deliver in their hunt for silverware.

Reliable Spanish outlet Mundo Deportivo reports that Real Madrid are willing to go all out for the England captain this summer, and could even be tempted to offer a player-plus-cash deal involving Wales international superstar Gareth Bale.

And Bent believes that Tottenham shouldn’t be entirely opposed to the idea of selling their prize asset.

Speaking to Football Insider, he said: “When you sell Harry Kane, you want to sell him at his absolute peak, and his peak is right now.

“So for me, if you’re going to sell him, you’ve got to sell him in the next couple of years, and that’s when you’re going to get the most money for him.

“Harry Kane has already said himself that if Spurs haven’t progressed at the rate he wants them to then he’s not scared of leaving. It doesn’t surprise me. You want to go and play for one of the giants in Europe.

“But if you are going to sell him, make sure you sell him at top dollar, and that could be £150-200 million.”

Kane has been sidelined since the beginning of January with a hamstring issue that was expected to keep him out of action until this month.

Despite his lengthy absence, however, the forward has still struck 17 goals in 25 outings for Spurs this season.
