Liverpool supporters expressed their anger on Twitter after another goalkeeping mistake by Simon Mignolet.

The Merseyside club lost 2-1 to Italian side Roma in their latest pre-season clash on Monday night and Belgian goalkeeper Mignolet has been criticised for his performance.

With the scoreline level at 1-1 the goalkeeper could only parry a header from Roma striker Edin Dzeko which landed at the feet of Mohamed Salah, who was then left with a simple finish to score the winning goal.

Following the broken hand suffered last week by summer signing Loris Karius the Liverpool fans have expressed their frustration on Twitter at Mignolet.

The Liverpool Echo reported that Karius will be absent for between eight to ten weeks after he sustained a fractured hand, which would love Mignolet in pole position to cement the number one spot.

The 23-year-old joined Jurgen Klopp’s side this summer for £4.7million and was expected to start ahead of current number one Simon Mignolet in the Reds’ first game of the season.

Klopp could opt for veteran goalkeeper Alex Manninger who joined Liverpool this summer but the 39-year-old is seen as a back-up option.

Mignolet joined from Sunderland in 2013 and has made 149 appearances for the Merseyside club in all competitions.

The Belgian is known for being a good shot stopper but has made some well highlighted mistakes which have left fans questioning his number one status.

In other Liverpool team news, their new signing has set himself a high goal target for the new season.
