Tottenham are ready to launch a £17million move for Germany international Jonas Hector, according to reports.

German publication Express claim that Spurs have joined the race to sign the 26-year old, who is set to leave Koln this summer amid strong interest from Liverpool and Wolfsburg.

It is said that the Bundesliga club are holding out for a £17m fee for the left-back following his impressive displays at Euro 2016.

Hector has been an integral member of the Germany team that has reached the semi-finals of the tournament.

The defender has two years remaining on his current deal in Germany and could be tempted by a move to the Premier League in this transfer window.

Liverpool have been strongly linked with Hector and have shortlisted him as a left-back target to provide competition for Alberto Moreno next season.

Spurs’ interest comes even though they already have international duo Danny Rose and Ben Davies competing for the left-back slot.

Spurs fans will be hoping Mauricio Pochettino can secure the signing having already missed out on Michy Batshuayi to Chelsea this summer.

Hector made 34 appearances and provided two assists this season, guiding his side to a 9th placed finish in the Bundesliga.

In other Tottenham news, Spurs are preparing to table a £38million club-record bid for Inter Milan striker Mauro Icardi this week.
