West Ham have looked far and wide in their hunt to sign a central midfielder in the past couple of years but they now have a huge chance to make a massive statement about themselves.
The Daily Mail has reported that Arsenal have made Aaron Ramsey available for a summer transfer as his contract expires in 2019 and they do not want to lose him for nothing – and David Moyes must make an ambitious summer swoop for the Wales international.
Ramsey, 27, would be a perfect signing for the Hammers.
The former Cardiff ace is already local to the London Stadium and would tick all the boxes of exactly what Moyes needs adding to his central midfield options.
The deeper-lying playmaker gets goals and assists with the only drawback being his sketchy injury record.
But that would definitely be a risk worth taking if co-owners David Gold and David Sullivan give Moyes the green light to go and raid Arsenal for their unwanted star.
The Times has reported that Ramsey is picking up £110,000-a-week at the Emirates, which may be within West Ham’s financial range if they find themselves offloading a few players of their own in the summer.
Ramsey has bags of Premier League experience too and at the age of 27, he should be in the prime of his career.
Moyes must go all out and make an ambitious move for the three-times FA Cup winner as the first available opportunity.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are set to offer this first teamer a new contract.
