20-year-old is not the solution for Celtic should Dembele depart in January

With the speculation about Moussa Dembele’s future continuing, it seems like the chance will come for Odsonne Edouard to stake his claim to be number one striker at the Hoops.
Unfortunately for the on-loan PSG striker, it seems like the chances are coming too soon for him. Despite scoring the fifth goal in the Bhoys’ 5-0 win over Brechin, he found the going tough, and didn’t do that much too impress.
The 20-year-old has scored five goals in 14 appearances so far for the Hoops, which isn’t bad but doesn’t compare to Dembele who is only a year older but seems like a far more rounded player.
You would imagine that if Leigh Griffiths hadn’t been injured he would have started against Brechin, but as he continues to battle with an ankle problem it will be interesting to see if Edouard gets the nod to start against Partick Thistle on Tuesday.
The French under-21 international might be a good prospect but he hasn’t as yet done enough to persuade Brendan Rodgers to make the transfer permanent at the end of the season.
If Dembele leaves in January the Hoops should be looking for a replacement striker, as so far Edouard isn’t the man to step into Dembele’s boots.
