Despite Leigh Griffiths’ recent good form, it seems likely that Moussa Dembele will start the Scottish Cup semi-final against Rangers on Sunday, and with good reason, as he has an excellent record against the Ibrox side.
Last season he destroyed them, scoring five goals against them including a winner in a cup semi-final and helping himself to a hat-trick in the process.
Even this season where injury and poor form have affected his game, the 21-year-old Frenchman was back to his best in the recent league match at Ibrox.
He scored a superb goal on the stroke of half-time which changed the course of the game, then set up Odsonne Edouard’s winning goal with a superb reverse pass.
It can be said that some of Dembele’s best performances this season have been reserved for some of the Hoops’ biggest games this season – the Betfred Cup Final, the Europa League match against Zenit – and Brendan Rodgers will be hoping for another big performance from Dembele in what is set to be one of the few big games that the Hoops have left this season.
If Dembele is on his game there is no doubt that he can rip Rangers apart with his movement, and Hoops fans will be hoping that he can once again become a hero at Hampden.
In other Celtic news, Hoops fans have named a player they want the club to sell at the end of the season
