On Wednesday it was reported that fellow Reds midfielder Georginio Wijnaldum hinted at an Anfield move for Promes after commenting on an Instagram picture.
And it would now appear that there was more in the comment than originally thought.
Promes and Wijnaldum know each other from the Holland national side, with the former capped 16 times already at his young age.
The youngster will have attracted Liverpool with his ability to play across a front three, which manager Jurgen Klopp has elected to set-up with this season.
He has more often played on the right side this campaign, which is currently occupied by summer signing Sadio Mane, but he will be heading to the AFCON in January with Senegal.
Promes would prove a worthy replacement with six goals and seven assists in 17 encounters in Russia this season.
Additionally, he boasts an even more impressive record in total with 37 goals and 20 assists in 78 appearances for Moscow since signing in 2014.
Football Insider verdict:
Liverpool will be in much need of a right sided attacker in the winter with no one in their current side good enough to plug the hole of Mane. Promes could be the one to fill in the gap and help the Reds maintain their high second placed placing in the Premier League, while even challenging for the league title. The youngster would suit the English game well with his pace and strength and could prove to be as much of a success in the England top flight as Mane. The Merseyside giants don’t need more goals in their side on the face of it, but they will never go amiss in a title challenging campaign and therefore the Reds must bring in Promes in the winter window.
