Expected Celtic arrival set to signal end for 25-year-old - report

By Harvey Byrne

Kouassi Eboue’s expected arrival at Celtic could signal the end of Nir Bitton’s career at the club, according to a report.

The Sun has claimed that the potential incoming of the Ivory Coast midfielder is likely to bring an end to the 25-year-old’s Hoops career.

The report states that Championship side Fulham are one of several clubs monitoring Bitton’s situation.

It is also reported that Brendan Rodgers could even agree a £2million sale in the next few weeks as he looks to build his own team.

Bitton has been at the Scottish giants for three and a half years after joining in the summer of 2013 for a £700,000 fee from FC Ashdod.

He is usually considered a regular in the Hoops’ line-up, but he has fallen down the pecking order in recent times under Rodgers and Eboue’s arrival could see him drop further.

The 19-year-old spent Wednesday at Celtic Park with talks ongoing about a £2.8million deal from Russian side Krasnodar.

Eboue began his medical at the club and the report states that Hoops chiefs are now confident personal terms can be agreed with the player.

Football Insider verdict:

Bitton’s days at the Hoops are clearly coming to an end with the recent success of midfield trio Stuart Armstrong, Callum McGregor and captain Scott Brown. Eboue would only further move the player out of the team and it is highly likely that he will see even less football than what he already is. If Celtic can now make a £1.3million profit on the squad player then they should look to offload him from their team. Bitton won’t be a miss to the Hoops’ side with their current dominance over the rest of the Scottish clubs and Rodgers should now look to move him out.
