West Ham 29-year-old confirms details of Bilic crunch talks

By Danny Wright

Robert Snodgrass has confirmed that he is set to stay at West Ham for the foreseeable future after holding crunch talks with manager Slaven Bilic.

The 29-year-old moved to the London Stadium in January following the departure of Dimitri Payet, but didn’t enjoy a good start to life in the claret and blue as he failed to find the net in 15 appearances despite scoring nine goals with Hull ahead of his winter switch.

However according to Snodgrass, that bad form will stay in the past as he has been assured by Bilic of certain things to better suit his style of play.

“There were some factors that made things difficult last season. I was living away from my family because we didn’t want to interrupt schooling but next season I’ll have my wife and three kids with me,” said Snodgrass, as quoted by the Daily Mail.

“I was also asked to play on the left to fill the gap vacated by Dmitri Payet but it’s never been my position. I’ve scored nearly a hundred goals as a mainly right-sided player and I’ve said to the manager that’s where I think I’m most effective.

“We’ve had a very good discussion and hopefully I’ll be given a run of games where I’m comfortable. If it doesn’t happen right away, I will have to wait for my chance.”

Snodgrass has enjoyed a steady rise through the divisions during his time in England having helped Leeds earn promotion from League One in 2009/10.

He moved to Norwich in 2012 before signing for Hull two years later, who he helped to get promoted to the Premier League via the play-offs last year.

The 23-times Scotland international, who is currently gearing up for a World Cup qualifier clash with England on Saturday, cost the Hammers £10.2million in January, but they are yet to see any significant return on their spending.

In his 15 West Ham appearances in which he failed to score, the winger did supply two assists in clashes against Sunderland and Swansea.
