West Ham are keeping close tabs on Barcelona attacker Munir El Haddadi, according to a report.
Spanish news outlet Mundo Deportivo claims that the 21-year-old is facing a future away from the Nou Camp and that the Hammers will face fierce competition from Premier League rivals if they wish to sign him.
It is understood that Everton have made an approach for the right winger, while Southampton and Crystal Palace are also interested in him.
Munir spent the last season on loan with Valencia, and earned a good deal of first-team football despite their poor showing in La Liga.
He scored seven goals and supplied three assists in 36 appearances during his loan spell, but also featured in helping Barca win the Supercopa against Sevilla in August as he scored in the first leg of the 5-0 aggregate win.
The one-time Spain international, who earned his debut cap against Macedonia in 2014, managed to score on two separate occasions against Barcelona during his stay at the Mestalla, despite being on the losing side both times.
West Ham are expected to be looking for new attacking options this summer after traditional strikers Andy Carroll and Diafra Sakho saw their seasons hampered by injuries as the club failed to finish in the top half of the Premier League.
Football Insider Verdict
Munir is a very highly-rated youngster at the Nou Camp but hasn’t quite got to the level that has been expected of him. He is quite similar to Bojan Krkic in that regard – but that doesn’t mean West Ham shouldn’t try to sign him. Munir is a very exciting attacker who, on his day, can get the better of some top defenders. The Spaniard is a steady source of goals and assists and it would be daft if the Hammers were to pass on a Barcelona youth graduate. The problem lies in their competition with Everton, who could have a lot of money to spend this summer if they sell Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley. West Ham don’t have that luxury so could be forced into making a cheaper offer, therefore ruling them out of the running.
In other West Ham news, the Hammers are plotting a bid for this 27-goal French striker.
