AC Milan forward Andre Silva is top of Wolves’ shopping list for the summer transfer window as they aim to enter the Premier League with a bang, according to a reliable journalist.
Sky Sports journalist Gianluca di Marzio claimed on his personal website that Silva, 22, is ready to quit AC Milan and Italian football all together less than a year after joining Serie A’s sixth-placed club in a deal worth £34million.
It is understood that Wolves have drawn up a shortlist of targets for the upcoming transfer window and the Portugal international, who is a client of super-agent Jorge Mendes, ranks highly on who the West Midlands club want to snap up.
Football Insider verdict
It’s going to be a very busy summer at Molineux and Nuno Espirito Santo is bound to make at least one signing that makes fans of other clubs sit back and say ‘wow’. Silva could be the player to do that, especially if Wolves have to spend over £30million on the Portugal international, who has struggled in his debut season at the San Siro. In all competitions, Silva has scored 10 goals in 39 appearances. However the bulk of his goals have come in Europe, with him just finding the net twice in Serie A. Milan underwent major changes last year when they splashed a huge amount of cash on bolstering the squad. Silva’s arrival was meant to be the big one that would take them back to the top of Italian football but it really hasn’t worked out. Will it work out for him in England though? Mendes will surely have some involvement in a deal, but the rest will be up to the player and Nuno.
