Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Insider Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed club chiefs have found United’s elimination from the Champions League and their frequently uninspiring performances unacceptable.
Well-placed sources have told Football Insider that the Dutchman’s position in the dugout is currently safe, but questions regarding his long-term future at the club remain.
Ashworth is expected to move to Old Trafford from Newcastle United as their new sporting director, with Football Insider revealing (14 February) that he has already agreed terms.

Ratcliffe is ushering in a swathe of backroom changes, with Ashworth considered a significant coup considering his exceptional work with the Magpies and Brighton.
It is believed that ten Hag’s position is under threat despite a resurgence in Man United’s form in recent weeks.
As revealed by Football Insider (14 February), the manager, who will have just 12 months left on his deal at the end of the season, has been given until May to prove himself to Ratcliffe and his INEOS company.
