'Embarrassing' Arsenal blasted by pundit after Willock-Newcastle update on Instagram
Frank McAvennie has branded Arsenal “embarrassing” after agreeing to sell Joe Willock to Newcastle.
The former West Ham forward, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, reacted to the latest on the 21-year-old’s future.
On Sunday (8th August), The Athletic reported Newcastle United have agreed a deal to sign Willock for around £20million.
Today (10th August) Willock added an image of himself to his Instagram story with the phrase “new limits”, sparking speculation that his arrival is imminent.
Willock, 21, spent the second half of last season on loan at St James’ Park and found a new lease of life.
He scored eight goals in 14 games for the Magpies and this site revealed in April how the midfielder had expressed a desire to return to the North East.

McAvennie insists Arsenal have to sell Willock to make up for their heavy spending in recent years.
“Arsenal have spent a lot of money,” McAvennie told Football Insider correspondent Ben Wild.
“Not just this summer but in the past. Willock will score more goals than most of their players.
“It looks embarrassing for Arsenal. They have a young boy who is doing better than the strikers.
“Arsenal have total faith in their frontmen, rightly or wrongly, and because they spent loads of money on them they have to keep playing.
“If they want to bring more players in they have to sell and Willock was the prime candidate to go.
“Knowing Arsenal, they will probably stick a bid in for him in a few years.”
The Gunners have only signed Ben White this summer but he joined for a fee of around £50million.
Mikel Arteta’s side kick off the new Premier League season with a trip to Brentford on Friday.
