Tottenham midfielder

Gabby Agbonlahor has told Aston Villa to try and sign Dele Alli from Tottenham.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa captain delivered his verdict after it was revealed Spurs’ asking price for the England star had fallen to just £25million.

This site understands Daniel Levy valued Dele at £45million last summer but after a disastrous campaign this season will now try and engineer a £25million sale.

Aston Villa are planning a summer spending spree as they look to convince talismanic captain Jack Grealish to stay for another season.

One area that could be addressed is in attacking midfielder with on-loan Chelsea star Ross Barkley dropping to the bench before the international break.

Even before then manager Dean Smith was not convinced Barkley was worth the £35million fee Chelsea would be demanding to make the deal permanent.

Asked if Dele should be a player that Aston Villa are interested in, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “100 per cent.

“I just don’t see Spurs letting him go for that amount of money, to be honest.

“He’s still young. Daniel Levy will want more than that.

“If that was the fee, I’d definitely expect Aston Villa to go for him. I think he’d be perfect for Aston Villa in that number 10 role.

“But I don’t see it being that fee. This is Daniel Levy we’re talking about.”

Dele, a 37-time England international, has been limited to just two Premier League starts all season.

He has found the net three times and provided four assists in 22 games across all competitions this term.
