Agbonlahor: Celtic defender Ajer would flop at Newcastle and this is why
Kristoffer Ajer would get “found out” in the Premier League if he were to leave Celtic for Newcastle United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the defender would not be given the same amount of time on the ball in England and he is not ready for a move.
The Scottish Sun report Newcastle talent spotters watched the 23-year-old in Celtic’s 4-1 loss to Ibrox at the weekend.
The Norway international demonstrated his attacking abilities in the loss as he completed four dribbles and finished with a pass completion rate of 92 per cent, according to Wyscout.
However, at the back, he was found wanting as he ducked out of the way of Alfredo Morelos’ shot for Rangers’ second goal.
“I think he’s a good player but I don’t see him in the Premier League, to be honest,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He might get found out in the Premier League. You’ve got to respect how big the Premier League is.
“I’m not sure about that, I don’t think he’s ready for the Premier League yet.
“He wouldn’t get the time on the ball in the Premier League. You can’t be flying forward in the Premier League like he does.”
Ajer has played 174 games for the Hoops since arriving in Glasgow from Norweigan club IK Start in 2016.
This season he has made 44 appearances across all competitions for Celtic and scored one goal and provided four assists.
