Agbonlahor: Celtic told to get Baldock deal 'over the line' after Jokanovic reveal

Gabby Agbonlahor has told Celtic to get a deal for George Baldock “over the line”.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted Baldock’s calmness on the ball and energy make him perfect for the Hoops.

The Daily Record reported on 27 June that Ange Postecoglou has the Sheffield United ace high on his list of full-back targets.

The Sheffield Star reported at the beginning of July Celtic are prepared to pay between £5-8million for the 28-year-old.

However, new Blades boss Salvisa Jokanovic told the Yorkshire Post on 4 July he does not expect to sell any key players this summer.

Celtic have already added Osaze Urhoghide, 20, but may want to sign a more experienced right-back.

They replaced Jeremie Frimpong with Jonjo Kenny on loan from Everton in January but it is unlikely he will not be returning to Parkhead this summer.

Asked whether Baldock could thrive in Scotland, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “I do.

“I’ve really liked him at Sheffield United since they came into the Premier League. He looks so calm on the ball with his passing, he’s energetic going forwards and backwards.

“He’s passionate so he suits the Scottish league and a big club like Celtic.

“For me, that’s something that I’d definitely try and get it done and over the line.”

Baldock was an ever-present in the 2019-20 Premier League campaign as Sheffield United secured an impressive ninth-place finish.

The Englishman played 32 English top-flight games last term but his efforts were not enough to prevent the Yorkshire outfit suffering relegation.

In other news, Postecologu may snub Callum McGregor and sign a “perfect” Celtic captain.
