Gabriel Agbonlahor has encouraged Aston Villa striker Keinan Davis to leave the club on loan in January.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the legendary former Villa striker claimed if the 22-year-old can have a productive loan spell away from Villa Park he can play a bigger role next season.
The Villa academy graduate has been limited to just two Premier League appearances this season with summer signing Ollie Watkins starting every game.
He could find his opportunities limited even further with £22million 2019 signing Wesley Moares set to return from injury in the new year.
“It’s a shame with Keinan, he’s had his injuries,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider.
“He’s back from injury now but I’m sure Dean Smith will be looking at in January when Wesley comes back and thinking to himself now Keinan won’t be involved as much.
“Sometimes you need to go out on loan and play some games. He’s not played a lot of football in his career.
“He needs to go out and get some game time, score some goals in the Championship and I’m sure he’ll be back into Villa’s squad next season.
“But you can’t see Watkins not starting games and when Westley’s back I’m sure he’ll be the first choice to come off the bench.
“I think that’s definitely something Keinan needs to do.
“I’m sure if you ask Keinan that’s something he’ll want to do.”
