Agbonlahor: Hart is a 'great signing' for Celtic amid intriguing Gerrard verdict

Joe Hart is a “great signing” for Celtic, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward insisted the goalkeeper will be hungry to impress for the Glasgow giants.

Celtic announced earlier this week (3 August) that Hart had penned a three-year deal with the club after completing a move from Spurs.

Football Insider revealed on 2 August the 34-year-old will be catapulted into the club’s top earning category.

That is still a drop on Hart’s Tottenham earnings where he had a year left to run on his contract.

The ex-England stopper played 10 times in cup competitions in his only season in north London.

In fact, the last time Hart played a Premier League game was for Burnley in December 2018.

Asked whether Hart can sort out Celtic’s leaky defence, Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “Yes, I think Joe Hart is going to be a good signing for anybody.

“He’s reliable, had a great career, great goalkeeper. He’s still got a lot to offer.

“For me, it is a great signing and it is good that Celtic have got it over the line.

“He probably just wants to play football. He’s not played a lot of football recently, he just wants to play games.”

Hart has 75 England caps to his name and represented the Three Lions and was part of the squad at four major tournaments.

During Euro 2012 Steven Gerrard labelled the goalkeeper “one of the best in the world”.

In other news, a Premier League 22-year-old would be a “great Celtic signing” after a reliable journalist’s update.
