Agbonlahor hits back at Robinson critics after West Brom reveal
Gabby Agbonlahor defended West Brom star Callum Robinson after he revealed he was not vaccinated against coronavirus.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England star claimed he “respects” his former Villa teammate for going public about his vaccine status.
As quoted by Sky News last week (October 6), Robinson revealed he had not been double vaccinated but that may change in the future.
He was heavily criticised for his comments but responded by scoring a brace for the Republic of Ireland in their 3-0 win over Azerbaijan.
“I know Callum Robinson quite well, he’s like my little brother,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“If he does not want to have the vaccine, he doesn’t have to. It’s his body, his life and his choice. He can do whatever he likes, that’s his choice.

“Other players have come out and said they are double vaccinated. Some people I know are double vaccinated, some of my family are, some aren’t. It’s your choice.
“I don’t blame him. He’s got the right to have his own choice in his own life.
“I respect him for it and fair play to him, he’s decided what he wants to do. As he said, he might get it done in the future, his mind might change.
“At the moment, he hasn’t got it done and there are a lot of people out there who aren’t and a lot of people who are [vaccinated].
“It’s your body, your choice. I think there are a lot of footballers who think the same as him but aren’t brave enough to say it. He’s just spoken his mind.
“It’s one of those things where sometimes people don’t say anything because they know the criticism they’re going to get. Fair play to Callum, he’s spoken his mind.”
In other news, West Brom could be set for a “huge blow” after an injury update.
