Agbonlahor hits out over Man United training ground 'problem' as Erik ten Hag lays down the law

Gabby Agbonlahor has suggested Erik ten Hag was right to hold Man United training less than 24 hours after winning the League Cup – and claimed they could yet seal an impressive quadruple.

The former Aston Villa striker, speaking exclusively to Football Insider, insisted Ten Hag will assess the future of any Red Devils star who had a “problem” with the short turnaround.

As per talkSPORT (27 February), Man United were back in training just 19 hours after beating Newcastle at Wembley – with Luke Shaw insisting there can be “no days off” at present.

Following the triumph, United remain in the running for FA Cup, Premier League, and Europa League titles this season.

Ten Hag’s side face Liverpool on Sunday (5 March) and need a win to keep pace with Man City and Arsenal at the summit of the league table.

The Dutchman has lost just six of his 41 games in charge since taking the Old Trafford hot seat last summer (2022).

Agbonlahor told Football Insider’s Ewan Kingsbury: “You have to keep the players hungry.

“They’ve won the cup on Sunday – and they were back playing on Wednesday.

“If anyone has a problem with being back in training the next day – then that shows Ten Hag what that player is all about.

“You can’t stick around in London and party. This should just be the beginning for Man United, and that is how Ten Hag is treating it.

“They’re still in with a chance of winning every competition this season and that has to be the goal. Anyone who isn’t on board, will be out the door in the summer.”
