Michael Olise would be a “great signing” for Leeds United, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England striker insisted the Whites need to sign younger players to fill the bench in place of the likes of Pablo Hernandez.
Football Insider revealed last week the Yorkshire giants are very keen on triggering the Reading teenager’s £8million release clause.
The 19-year-old has emerged as one of the Championship’s hottest priorities after netting five goals and laying on 10 assists in 36 league games this season.
His contract at the Madejski Stadium expires at the end of next season and it is understood there is also strong interest from Crystal Palace, Liverpool, Tottenham and Arsenal.
And Agbonlahor is not surprised there is plenty of suitors.
He told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley: “It would be a great signing [for Leeds].
“I’ve seen him play a few times and he’s very exciting.
“You look at Leeds and when they’re bringing on substitutes on, they’re quite old, like Hernandez. They need a few more younger players in that squad coming off the bench.
“I think he would be a perfect player to come off the bench. If he plays well he can get into that starting line up.
“It will be someone Leeds are looking at, and I reckon a lot of teams are looking at him as well.”
Hernandez, 35, started 27 league games last season but this term he has had to settle a role from the bench.
He has started two Premier League games and made a further 11 appearances from the bench.
