Gabby Agbonlahor has admitted he loved to see Emiliano Martinez playing mind games with Bruno Fernandes before he missed his penalty against Aston Villa.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa's record Premier League goalscorer insisted David de Gea would be hailed as "world-class" if he did the same.

Martinez appeared to suggest to Fernandes that Cristiano Ronaldo should be taking the penalty that would have earned Man United a late point.

Instead, Fernandes took the spot-kick and blasted over as Villa recorded their first win at Old Trafford for over a decade.

Speaking to Sky Sports after the game, Ole Gunnar Solskjaer hit out at the Villa players, including Martinez, for surrounding the referee and Fernandes.

"I loved it," Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

"It doesn't matter who it is, you cannot be scared of Ronaldo. If you're scared of big stars then the Premier League is not for you. Aston Villa showed that, every man that played showed they didn't fear it.

"Martinez, that just showed the experience he's getting with the more he's playing in big games.

"I loved it. If David de Gea did that everyone would say 'That's world-class goalkeeping, that's experienced goalkeeping'.

"It wasn't disrespectful. If that was the penalty shootout in the World Cup final and Pickford did that, I don't think anybody would be complaining. It's part of the game.

"Goalkeepers are clever. Sometimes they make attackers have to wait by walking across the goalline and delaying the kick.

"I thought it was great goalkeeping by the Aston Villa goalkeeper."
