Agbonlahor makes worrying Traore claim after embarrassing Wolves reveal

Adama Traore may be set for an extended period on the Wolves bench, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England forward delivered his verdict after Hwang Hee-Chan and Raul Jimenez’s parternship blossomed against Newcastle United.

Hwang scored a brace in the 2-1 victory at Molineux and both assists were provided by Jimenez.

It was the second consecutive game that Traore started on the bench as Hwang and Jimenez lined up alongside Francisco Trincão.

According to FBRef, Traore has had 35 shot-creating actions in the Premier League this season but none have led to a goal.

That is the highest number of shot-creating actions a player has had without creating a goal.

Only Mo Salah (38) and Bruno Fernandes (36) have more shot-creating actions in the Premier League than Traore.

“It’s good that other players are stepping up,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“They don’t have to rely on Traore.

“Maybe now they’ve got a forward who has come in and proven that he can cause damage, they’ve got options, they don’t have to play Traore every game who is not providing goals or assists. They can keep him on the bench.

“They’ve got Trincao as well and Daniel Podence.

“It’s looking better for Wolves now and this is what they needed after a worrying start to the season.”

Traore has scored 10 times and provided 18 assists in 140 games across all competitions for Wolves.

The Spain international, 25, is under contract at Molinuex in the summer of 2023.
