Agbonlahor: Newcastle United backed to complete Joao Pedro deal after £20m bid reveal
Joao Pedro would be a “cute signing” and could help Newcastle United secure a top four finish, according to Gabby Agbonlahor.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, the ex-Aston Villa and England attacker suggested Pedro would offer something different to Newcastle’s current attacking options.
Sources told Football Insider earlier this week (21 November) that the Magpies have a “concrete” interest in the Watford forward, 21, ahead of the January transfer window.
This site revealed in the summer (15 August) that the club had a £20million offer turned down by Watford in the summer.
The Brazilian then signed a new five-year contract with the Championship club in September but that has not put Newcastle off.
The Hornets see Pedro as a vital part of their promotion push and he has eight goal contributions in 17 league games so far this season.

“I think it would be a nice, cute signing,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.
“They’ve got Callum Wilson, Alexander Isak, Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron. Ryan Fraser and Jacob Murphy are decent players too.
“But Joao Pedro would add something different.
“The position that Newcastle are in, it makes sense to strengthen. You’ve got a great chance of making the top four, it makes sense to try and strengthen that team and get them into the top four.”
Pedro moved to Watford from Brazilian side Fluminense in January 2020.
He scored three times and provided one assist in 31 Premier League games in the 2021-22 season but he could not prevent them from being relegated.
