Agbonlahor shares Grealish prediction Aston Villa 'fans will love' after Man City news

Gabby Agbonlahor has tipped Jack Grealish to stay at Aston Villa this summer.

Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Villa’s record Premier League goalscorer suggested the club’s owners will price Grealish out of a move away.

Football Insider learned on 12 July that Man City are preparing a £90million bid for the Villa captain.

However, the Athletic reported on 16 July there is a growing expectation he will sign a new contract with his boyhood club.

Grealish penned a five-year deal last summer amid interest from Manchester United.

“There’s always going to be interest in a top player like Jack,” Agbonlahor told Football Insider correspondent Connor Whitley.

“He’s gone to the Euros, he’s done well when he was given a chance. So there’s always going to be clubs interested.

“But I’ve always said that Aston Villa are not in need of £100million, the owners are very rich. They could price Jack out of a move.

“I think Manchester City would love to sign him but they probably need a striker as their number one target. They might end up using their money to get a striker rather than spend over £100million to get Jack.

“He’s an amazing player and Villa have done amazingly to tie him down to a long-term deal last summer. I think he will stay and fans will love it.”

Grealish featured in five of England’s games at the European Championships but started just once.

He now has 12 international caps under his belt after making his debut in September 2020.

In other news, an Everton player is “very keen” on signing for Aston Villa and going back “home”.
